Our Story
Born in the suburbs of Paris, Maison de Travail — The Workhouse — is inspired by the historic French workshop: a place where skilled hands forged tools for the railroad workers who helped build the infrastructure of modern France. It was here that work, craftsmanship, and dignity came together.
The workers wore their bleu de travail — the traditional French work jacket — not as a fashion statement, but because it was made for the work itself. Simple, functional, and built to endure, it became an enduring symbol of French working life.
Maison de Travail reinterprets that original spirit for today.
Our chore jacket is rooted in the heritage of French workwear, with a silhouette drawn from the authentic worker jackets of the past. Cut from 100% cotton, it is substantial yet breathable, designed for comfort, durability, and everyday utility.
With wear, the fabric softens and develops its own character, making each jacket increasingly personal over time. Brown tortoiseshell buttons add a subtle note of refinement, balancing the honest utility of traditional workwear with a more considered modern aesthetic.
Made for work. Made for everyday life.
